If there is one dinner that most Marrakesh weekends will talk about after the fact, it is Comptoir Darna. Two floors, candlelit, velvet-heavy, a menu that is confident without being precious, a live band that begins around 10:30 and builds until the belly dancers move through the tables at 11. It is not subtle. Comptoir does not pretend to be subtle. It is a production, and if that is what Saturday night wants, there is nothing better in this city.
When to go
Book 22:00 on Saturday, three days out minimum. Arrive hungry — portions are generous. The show starts while you’re on mains; you will watch it. If your group wants to go on to Theatro afterwards, ask for the check at 00:15.
The moment
The moment the dancers circle the groom’s chair and the crew rises and somebody buys everyone a round and the band is loud and someone makes a toast that does not land because nobody can hear it but it lands anyway because everyone understands — that is why the bachelor weekend exists. Comptoir provides that room.
