There is no Mykonos night that does not, eventually, end at Jackie O’. It is the closer, the gravity well, the last room standing. Built into the stone above the Old Port of Mykonos Town — water on one side, whitewashed alleys on the other — it operates as two venues in one. Upstairs, an open-air terrace that feels, for the first hour, almost civilised: low banquettes, bottles on ice, a house DJ warming up, the sea fifteen feet below. Downstairs, through a single door, a black-painted underground room with a low ceiling, a mirrored bar and a dance floor that will, by two in the morning, be full to the walls and staying that way until sunrise.

The operating mode is bottle service, and it is not optional. Table minimums run from around two thousand euros midweek to somewhere north of four in peak August, and the rooms are effectively invitation-only past midnight without one. The list is a blunt instrument — vodka, champagne, gin, tequila, rum — and the arithmetic is simple: a ten-person table, two bottles, and you are in, with the kind of sightline that lets you see the whole floor. Without a table, you queue, and you do not always win.

The crowd is every crowd in Mykonos collapsed into one room. The table next to yours is the yacht from Paraga. The one behind is the Nammos lunch you were at seven hours ago. The dance floor is half your age and a generation sharper. Somewhere around two, the music pauses, the lights shift, the crowd pulls back three feet from the central floor, and the drag performers come down the stairs in sequins and six-inch heels. This is the thing everybody stays for.

When to arrive

Arrive at 01:00, not earlier. The terrace before midnight is a holding pattern; the underground room does not start moving until around one. Stay until 04:00 at minimum — 05:00 if the set is good and the light is starting to come up over the harbour. The walk back through the empty alleys of Chora at dawn is a separate, private moment, and worth doing sober enough to remember.

The door

Door policy. Closed shoes, no shorts, no beach attire. The room is a dress-up club with a cabaret on top and the entrance reads accordingly.

The moment

The 03:30 drag set. The stairs, the sequins, the lip-sync, the entire underground room losing its mind for ninety seconds and then going right back to the floor. If there is a single photograph from the Mykonos weekend that the group chat will still be quoting in October, it is from the thirty seconds after that performance ends.
